Supreme Court Dismisses Case Over Song in Film.
In a big relief for Malayalam film actor Priya Prakash Varrier, the Supreme Court dismissed the case against her over a song in her film. The complainants had alleged that the song featuring Varrier had a reference to the wife of Prophet Mohammad. The Hyderabad police had filed a case against the 18-year-old actor based on the complaint from a group of young men. “Somebody in a film sings a song and you have no other job but to file a case,” Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said, pulling up the Telangana government. The top court cancelled the FIR against the Malayalam actor as well as the director and producer of the movie “Oru Adaar Love”.
